Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo is a single mom, former small business owner, Nurse Advocate, and survivor who knows firsthand what it means to work hard, raise a family, and still worry about paying the bills. Elected in 2022, Pilar has made it her mission to stand up for families, small businesses, seniors, veterans, and the communities she calls home.
From day one, Pilar took our community’s priorities to Sacramento—and delivered. Pilar fought to lower costs and bring over $116 million back our community for public safety, housing, schools, healthcare, seniors, veterans, and small businesses. And she did it all without raising taxes.
Last year, every bill of Pilar’s that reached the Governor’s desk was signed into law, including legislation to:
- Lower gas, utility, housing, and healthcare costs
- Protect small businesses from retail theft
- Expand access to affordable housing and child care
- Provide relief to veterans and families impacted by the Chiquita Canyon landfill disaster
- Protect victims of sexual violence, human trafficking, domestic violence, and abuse
Pilar has always believed that the government should work for people, not the other way around. She has fought against tax increases, waste, and unnecessary bureaucracy while working to make everyday life more affordable. Her commitment to public safety has earned the support of firefighters, police officers, and deputy sheriffs.
As our Assemblywoman, Pilar Schiavo will continue delivering for us, by:
- Putting money back in people’s pockets during these tough times
- Ending tax giveaways to corporations and cutting taxes for the middle class and small businesses
- Stopping utility, insurance, oil, grocers, and pharmaceutical companies from increasing costs for our families
- Expanding access to housing and to healthcare people can afford
- Voted against tax increases and cut wasteful spending, and authored bills to provide tax relief to veterans and those impacted by Chiquita Canyon
- Led efforts to hold government departments accountable to make sure they’re working for us
- Authored and passed legislation to cut bureaucratic red tape that reduces fees on building homes we can afford—faster
Before serving in the Assembly, Pilar was a small business owner and worked as a Nurse Advocate, helping more than one million people access healthcare, including reproductive healthcare. She also co-founded an organization that provided more than 50,000 meals to people in need, helped veterans and seniors experiencing homelessness find housing, and worked to keep local communities safe.
Pilar is running for re-election because she believes our community deserves a representative who understands the challenges we face, fights for us every day, and always has our back.
